The Ian Treacher Collection
On and off Ian Treacher has been digging and collecting bottles for 40 years. He has quite a mixture of bottles in his entire collection that are displayed beautifully in his house; ginger beers, mineral waters, pot lids, flagons, poisons, inks, fairy lights, etc.
As well as that he has a whole large cupboard of doubles and things he doesn't even want to display. He collects mainly Berkshire and Oxfordshire locally.
I would like to thank them now for their hospitality as I was made very welcome by Ian and his long term partner Pat who rustled me up a cup of my favourite builders tea!
It would be a bit of a travesty for me to not share some of the pictures with you all:
Here is Ian:
Okay, we visited his front room and guess what, we found bottles!! - Zara seals, inks, poisons, etc.:
.....and in the alcove at the other end of the front room was some fairy lights:
Upstairs in the spare room was his main collection, well where do I start?......ginger beers and some flagons:
....and flagons, lots and lots of Berkshire flagons:
....more flagons and some hot water bottles......:
....and how about some pot lids and some whisky flasks....and yes you guessed it......more flagons.....
....and how about some mineral waters.....
....and some poisons and more mineral waters.....
....and some hamiltons.....
....and some Warners and poisons.....and some rare local coloured mineral waters!!!
....and just when you thought you had seen everything in the room, a little display cabinet with some real gems in !!
....and these are all bottles from the infamous I. C. E. Berg & Son of Bradfield. Some early codds here including a dumpy codd (sadly broken), a narrow neck (sadly also broken) and a codd hamilton hybrid !!
